General FAQ
What is the condition of my pet travelling as checked in/ excess baggage?

The dog or cat including the soft carrier case has to be no more than 8KG. However, some countries do not allow checked in excess baggage for pets

Can I check my pet in as a in-cabin?

There are some airlines that allow passengers to carry their pets into the cabin of the plane, if the animals are small enough to fit into a pet travel bag and placed under the passenger’s seat. Sometimes, a small cat or dog will exhibit unusual behaviours when in such an environment and we strongly recommend you think of your fellow passengers first. 8kg is max limit for pet in cabin.

How long do I need to check in my pet as excess baggage?

You will need to arrive 2 and a half hours to 2 hours before the flight.

If I send a pet as manifest cargo, how many hours do I need to be at the cargo terminal?

For agents, the process will require you to be at the terminal at least 5 hours before the plane departs. For individual clients not requiring an agent or a third party, the process requires a minimum of 6 hours before the flight departs. Depending on the carrying airline, some airlines require agents and individuals to check in the pets earlier than 5 to 6 hours.

Do I need to feed my pet before they travel?

We suggest that you do noIt feed your pet at least 8-10 hours before departure time.

However there is need to limit for water or liquid consumption  However, if your pet is on a dietary recommendation by a vet and requires feeding before the relocation, it is suggested you follow your vets guidelines.

Do I need to exercise or walk my dog before they travel?

Depending on the weather, if it is hot or warm, we would suggest you take the dog out for a walk for a maximum of 10-15 minutes and remember to hydrate the dog during and afterwards. In the cooler seasons, a 30 minute walk should be sufficient and rehydrate the dog.

Medication for pets

Any medication attached to the crate or that has/is used for your pet must also be recorded with the name of the drug, the time and directions of administration. We would also recommend that you send a second batch of medicine in advance, just in case the one travelling with the pet is lost or damaged.

Travel Tips

We have put together some helpful tips in transporting your pet as safely and comfortable as possible:

  • Purchase your shipping kennel several weeks ahead of your pet’s trip. Give your pet treats in the kennel and begin confining your pet in the kennel for short periods of time. Never use the kennel for PUNISHMENT.
  • Cover the floor of the travel kennel with shredded newspaper or a travel diaper and place a worn T-shirt or other personal items with your pet. The familiar scent from the garment can reduce stress
  • On the day of departure, try not feeding your pet as this may lead to the pet soiling the Kennel. Travelling inside a soiled kennel can lead to stress and unpleasant journeys.
  • It is recommended that your pet have access to water prior to flight with significant time to exercise and relieve itself before entering the kennel for the flight.
  • Check that you have all the necessary documents for the pet. Insufficient or uncertified documents, can lead to fines, quarantine and risk the pet being returned to the original export country .
